Jamie Cranney is an Australian production designer and set decorator known for his innovative work in film, television, and commercials. His collaborative approach has earned the trust of directors, producers and industry professionals.
In 2019, Jamie designed Monica Zanetti’s acclaimed feature film “Ellie & Abbie (& Ellie’s Dead Aunt)”, which had its World Premiere at the 2020 Mardi Gras Film Festival. The film additionally won the 2021 AACTA Award for “Best Indie Film”.
His dedication to the craft has been recognised with Industry awards such as the Australian Production Design Guild Award (APDG Award) for Best Production Design for a web series “Patricia Moore” in 2018, as well as nominations for his set decoration work on the TV series’ “Bump” (Stan) and “Total Control” (ABC) in 2021 and 2022.
Jamie’s passion for production design was cultivated during his education at the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, Australia, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Set and Costume Design for Film & Theatre. He also graduated from the Australian Film, TV, and Radio School (AFTRS).
Jamie’s portfolio of work boasts an eclectic mix of compelling projects, each bearing his distinctive mark and rich perspective. His production design accomplishments include Netflix’s tropical rom-com “This Little Love Of Mine”, MTV’s “POP 20” chart countdown program, the wildly funny twenty something romp “Fragments of Friday” and the profoundly uplifting “Rocky & Me”, a part of ABC’s DisRupted program led by talented young Australian creatives with disabilities.
He is also recognised for carefully crafting intricate and immersive worlds while set decorating the international TV series “Joe Vs Carole”, a gripping saga inspired by the infamous Joe Exotic of Tiger King fame. They’ve also left their creative mark on “Black Snow”, Stan’s chilling cold case murder mystery, and Amazon’s outrageous apocalyptic comedy, “Class of 07.”
Most recently, Jamie completed the design for the electric pop star inspired, television series “Paper Dolls” for Paramount Plus, showcasing his ability to blend high concept aesthetics with narrative and solidifying his position as a creative force in the industry with a deep commitment and confidence in the art of visual storytelling.
Jamie’s journey has been defined by their pursuit of bold and unexpected projects. He continues to forge a unique path into the world of commercial and narrative driven design.
